Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Cormac McCarthy has died at age 89.
The American author reportedly died of natural causes at in Santa Fe, New Mexico, his publisher, Knopf, announced.
McCarthy is best known for No Country For Old Men, The Road and All The Pretty Horses, all of which were adapted into movies.
He will be remembered as one of the leading authors of his time.

McCarthy was famously reclusive, focusing on his work.
He gained reluctant fame when the Coen brothers adapted No Country For Old Men into a hit movie in 2007, starring Javier Bardem, Tommy Lee Jones and Woody Harrelson.
All the Pretty Horses was adapted for the big screen in 2000 and starred Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz.

The Counselor was adapted into a movie by Ridley Scott in 2013, with Bardem and Cameron Diaz among the cast.

His play The Sunset Limited was adapted into an HBO telefilm in 2011 and starred Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson.
McCarthy was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2007 for The Road, which Oprah Winfrey also featured on her famous book club.
Winfrey was able to entice McCarthy into a sit-down interview for the novel. He spoke of his craft, telling Oprah: "You always have this hope that today I'm going to do something better than I've ever done."
He added: "I like what I do."

McCarthy continued: "Some writers have said in print that they hated writing, it was just a chore and a burden. I certainly don't feel that way about it. Sometimes it's difficult but you always have this image of the perfect thing which you can never achieve but which you never stop trying to achieve."
Of The Road, which was also adapted into a movie, McCarthy said he had "no idea" where the story was going.
He said inspiration for the novel came from sitting in a hotel room in Texas with his young son sleeping nearby. The author began looking out the window at night wondering what the city may look like in the future.
"You can't plot things out. You just have to trust in, you know, wherever it comes from," he explained.

No Country For Old Men won four Academy Awards including Best Picture. McCarthy attended the event, much to the delight of his fans.
McCarthy wrote 12 novels, two plays, five screenplays and three short stories during his career, becoming known for the Western and post-apocalyptic genres.
He is survived by his son John.
