'My Kitchen Rules' judge Colin Fassnidge reveals how he got himself into such a nasty motorcycle accident

Colin Fassnidge has revealed exactly what happened last week that saw him flung off his motorbike.

Speaking to Nova 969's Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald and Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli, the TV chef recalled, "I can remember concrete. It's called a 'highside' -- you know, when you see like a buckaroo on a bull? And then the back wheel lines up with the front wheel, sideways, which it's not meant to do, then it flips you off."

When Fitzy asked how high he was flung in the air, Fassnidge said, "It was pretty high -- it would've looked great from behind, that's all I know."

He also said that the accident happened on Fitzroy Street in Sydney's Surry Hills, where his restaurant 4Fourteen is located: "My missus was in front of the restaurant, so my missus ran over."

As for the injuries he's sustained? "I've done my ribs in, cracked a few ribs, done my ankles, done my wrist, done my ego," he said. "I've taken off a load of skin on one side."

At least he seemed to be in good spirits, joking to the radio hosts, "It must be a slow news week if you're ringing me on a Monday morning."

And based on his Instagram, it didn't take long for Fassnidge to get back in the kitchen anyway.

TV chef Colin Fassnidge has detailed a recent motorcycle accident he was involved in.

Taking to Instagram today, the My Kitchen Rules judge shared the injuries he sustained as well as the damage done to his Kawasaki Ninja motorbike.

"I've done something right w God ........when u wake up on the road and your bike is at the other end of it ........." the Irish chef wrote to accompany a photo of his grazed knee. He added the hashtags "#stillhere #highside #goingtobed."

In another Instagram post, Fassnidge showed the damage on his bike, and joked, "For sale Ninja, never been dropped, slid maybe!" His bike appears to be pretty banged up. Towards the end of the video, Fassnidge gives another look at his own scars, and can be heard saying, "Ouch."

At this stage it's unclear how Fassnidge found himself in such a situation.

However it's no secret that riding a motorbike is Fassnidge's preferred method of transportation -- his Instagram bio even says he's a "father/biker/author/tv presenter" who "should not be allowed to use social media."

Prior to joining My Kitchen Rules in 2013, Fassnidge was best known for his Sydney restaurant 4Fourteen.

Earlier this month, Fassnidge confirmed his chef-hatted eatery will be sold or close its doors by the end of July.

"I'd need to sign another lease and I'm not signing for another five years, I've got too much else going on," he told Good Food.

Fassnidge also runs other eateries, including the pub Banksia Bistro and the kitchen in Pyrmont's Terminus Hotel.
