Cody Simpson, one of Australia's biggest musical exports, has come off a big year of winning The Masked Singer Australia, releasing his new single 'Golden Thing' and entering into a new relationship with popstar Miley Cyrus.

Now, Simpson has turned his attention to underwear modelling as he teams up with Bonds on the release of their organics underwear range.

"This will be a first for me in terms of the underwear modelling. I've always wanted to be a part of a classic campaign like this. Something I grew up wearing, it makes it all the better," Simpson tells 9Honey Celebrity.

Simpson, who frequently advocates for climate change and calls himself an "environmentalist", welcomed the opportunity to get involved in an ethically made product.

"It's good to be a part of something that's promoting sustainability," he says,

The 23-year-old also has big plans to release a book of poetry after months of teasing fans under the alias of Prince Neptune Poet.

"It's like getting a peer into my notebook," Simpson says.

Simpson confirmed that the book of poetry will be accompanied by new music, and that he enjoyed the change of pace that came with writing poetry.

"I have a lot of freedom in terms of what I can write and say. I can write about things that I don't have to structure and form into song," Simpson says.

"It's a crazy phenomenon," he says. "It's so fresh and new. It's amazing to see how that's assisting people in the way YouTube did. It definitely assisted me when I was coming up."

The musician, who currently resides in Los Angeles, returned to Australia last year when he was crowned the winner of Season 1 of The Masked Singer.

Despite the success of the show, he has no plans to return to the reality TV genre in the near future.

"I had a ball doing that. As a musician, it was really cool to be able to sing and be judged by my voice alone. In terms of reality TV, I don't think so," he jokes.

Even though his trips to Australia are fleeting, he confirms that he "still considers Australia home".

"No matter where I am in the world. I'd like to come back more, and eventually retire back home."

Following Australia's devastating bushfire tragedy, Simpson has been open about how painful it is to see his country burn from overseas.

"I think it's easy to feel helpless about something like this. It's easy to look at it and not know what to do because of the severity of it. It's so widespread," says Simpson. "For me, it's about helping get the message across to young people that the climate is in a state of danger. We need to do what we can to help turn the ship around.

"I think people are starting to wake up which is exciting."
