Craig McLachlan accuser Christie Whelan says she's been threatened with rape by online trolls

Christie Whelan-Browne, one of the three women who accused Craig McLachlan of sexual assault on Monday, has revealed she has received a number of rape threats from online trolls.

"The people who have tweeted me to say they hope I get raped, hope I never work again & that they wish to spit in my face are incredibly hard to ignore" she tweeted on Wednesday afternoon. “But the amount of love is drowning them out. So I thank you. Rising above is hard, but I’m trying."

Whelan, 35, played Janet alongside 52-year-old McLachlan's Frank N Furter during the 2014 production of Rocky Horror Picture Show.

She told ABC’s 7:30 that during a live performance on stage, the actor ran his finger along her underwear while performing a scene in a bed.

"One night when he was down in the bed… he traced the outline of my vagina with his finger and I slapped his hand away," she said.

Actresses Angela Scundi and Erika Heynatz, who also acted in the stage show, have joined Whelan-Browne in accusing McLachlan of harassment and bullying.

Scundi told 7.30  that McLachlan subjected her to an unwanted and unscripted kiss, while Heynatz said he straddled her and kissed her on the neck in a crew room backstage.

The allegations were first revealed in a joint Fairfax Media/ABC investigation.

McLachlan, who has been replaced by his understudy in the 2018 Adelaide run of the show, has denied all allegations made by his former co-stars, calling them "baseless."

"They seem to be simple inventions, perhaps made for financial reasons, perhaps to gain notoriety," he said in a statement on Monday. "These allegations are ALL made up."

Whelan-Browne and McLachlan currently co-star in Ten’s The Wrong Girl.
