Former child star Matthew Mindler's death was ruled a suicide at age 19

Child actor Matthew Mindler's death has been ruled a suicide after he was found at his university on Saturday. He was 19.

The Lancaster County Coroner's Office determined Mindler died by suicide, but his exact cause of death will be known after toxicology results are returned, TMZ reports.

"It is with a grieving heart that I let you know of the death of 19-year-old Matthew Mindler from Hellertown, Pennsylvania, a first-year student at Millersville University. A search had been underway for Matthew since Thursday after he was reported missing," the announcement from his college, Millersville University, read.

"Matthew was found deceased this morning, Saturday, August 28, in Manor Township near campus. Matthew was transported to the Lancaster County Forensic Center by the coroner for further investigation."

Mindler's family reported he "did not return to his room or return phone calls from his family" on Wednesday, and they'd reported him missing. He was later found dead at Manor Township, where he had attended college as a first-year student.

Mindler was best known for his role opposite Paul Rudd in Our Idiot Brother (2011), where he played Emily Mortimer and Steve Coogan's son. He also had parts in shorts Frequency (2013) and Solo (2015).

He also had acting credits in As the World Turns, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Chad: An American Boy.
