Chester Bennington's wife breaks her silence: 'How do I pick up my shattered soul?'

The wife of Chester Bennington has broken her silence, one week after the Linkin Park frontman took his own life by suicide at age 41.

In a statement obtained by People, Talinda Bennington, 40, penned an emotional tribute to her late husband, describing the shattering pain she feels in his absence.

"One week ago, I lost my soulmate and my children lost their hero-their Daddy," she began. "We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy. How do I move on? How do I pick up my shattered soul?"



The model vowed to honour his memory and said she draws strength from their children: son Tyler and twin daughters Lilly and Lila. Chester also leaves behind children Jaime, Isaiah, and Draven from previous relationships.

"The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left. I want to let my community and the fans worldwide know that we feel your love. We feel your loss as well. My babies are so young to have lost their daddy. And I know that all of you will help keep his memory alive. He was a bright, loving soul with an angel’s voice. And now he is pain free singing his songs in all of our hearts. May God Bless us all and help us turn to one another when we are in pain. Chester would’ve wanted us to do so. Rest In Peace, my love."

Chester's body was found in his Los Angeles-area home on the morning of July 20. The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office confirmed he died by suicide.

TMZ reported that no illegal or prescription drugs were found in his home, according to police sources. A partially drunk bottle of alcohol was reportedly found in the bedroom where his body was discovered. Toxicology results are pending.

Linkin Park has cancelled their One More Light World Tour following Chester's death. Earlier this week, the band paid their respects, adding that his death "leaves a void that can never be filled".
