Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon reportedly arrested for prescription fraud

Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon was arrested in Indiana on drug-related charges.

According to TMZ, the 50-year-old actor was arrested by police on August 18 in Vigo County for allegedly obtaining prescription drugs by fraud.

In the police report obtained by the outlet, police alleged Brendon was driving erratically in his silver Dodge Journey, claiming he was swerving in his vehicle while failing to signal.

When police caught up to him, Brendon reportedly refused to identify himself, giving them a California ID with the name 'Kelton Schultz', who he allegedly claimed was his twin brother. For context, Brendon's full name is Nicholas Brendon Schultz and his twin brother's name is Kelly Donovan Schultz.

Police then alleged they found a "small plastic bag that contained crystal/powder residue" in the car, as well as pills and medication prescribed to a 'Nicholas Bender'.

The actor was then charged with prescription fraud of a controlled substance and for a refusal to identify himself.

Brendon is best known for his role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, playing Xander Harris on the long-running hit series alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar from 1996 to 2003. From 2007 to 2014, he played Kevin Lynch in the popular crime drama Criminal Minds. 

In 2015, Brendon — who has openly struggled with alcohol — was arrested twice for allegedly causing disturbances in hotels. He soon checked into a treatment centre for depression later that year. In 2017, the actor was again arrested by police for an alleged domestic violence incident.
