Britney Spears addresses ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake while dancing to his song: 'One of the world's biggest breakups'

Britney Spears just posted a video of her dancing to her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake's song 'Filthy' and reflected on their split in 2002.

The 'Toxic' singer, 38, referred to Timberlake as a "genius" and admitted that they had "one of the world's biggest breakups."

"This is my version of Snapchat or TikTok or whatever the cool thing you're supposed to do these days!!!!! As you can see I'm not really dancing folks…… I'm just very bored," Spears captioned the Instagram clip on April 16. (Watch above).

"PS I know we had one of the world's biggest breakups 20 years ago…… but hey the man is a genius !!!! Great song JT !!!! Pssss if you KNOW WHAT'S GOOD!!!!!!"

Timberlake responded to the shout-out by commenting on his ex's video with a series of emojis.

Timberlake and Spears dated between 1998 and 2002 after meeting during filming for The All-New Mickey Mouse Club.

At the split of their split, there was speculation that Spears wasn't faithful in the relationship.

"I'm not technically saying he's wrong but I'm not technically saying he's right either," Spears said in a 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer.

Shortly after their breakup, they both released songs seemingly referencing the demise of their relationship. Timberlake dropped the iconic pop hit 'Cry Me River' that featured a blonde girl cheating on him that resembled Spears.

Meanwhile, Spears released 'Everytime' with lyrics like "I may have made it rain / Please forgive me / My weakness caused you pain / And this song's my sorry," with the video for the song showing her visibly hurt by a breakup.

Since their highly publicised split, Spears had two children with ex-husband Kevin Federline, and is now dating model Sam Asghari. Timberlake married actress Jessica Biel whom he shares a son with.
