Brendan Fraser gets emotional as fans support his comeback

Fans are rallying behind Brendan Fraser as he makes his Hollywood comeback.

The actor, 52, recently hosted a virtual meet-and-greet and spoke to Lindley Key — a superfan who has shared videos of herself cosplaying The Mummy character Evelyn O'Connell (played by Rachel Weisz) via her TikTok account — who informed him people on the internet and social media platform are "rooting" for him.

Key shared a video of her conversation with Fraser on TikTok, in which he revealed he's about to start filming director Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon in Oklahoma alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.

"I think I might be sick, a little anxious," the actor seemingly joked, before assuring Key it'll be fine as he mimed biting his fingernails.

"The internet is so behind you! We're so supportive," Key replied. "There are so many people out there who love you, and we're rooting for you, and we can't wait to see what you do next."

Fraser appeared to get emotional as he took a sip of his water, replying, "Shucks, ma'am" as he tipped his cowboy hat.

Fraser is making a comeback on the big screen with films such as the 2021 Steven Soderbergh film No Sudden Move, Behind the Curtain of Night, Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon and Darren Aronofsky's movie adaption of The Whale.

The George of the Jungle star previously revealed he felt "blacklisted" by Hollywood after alleging he was sexually assaulted by a former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

"I don't know if this curried disfavour with the group, with the HFPA. But the silence was deafening," Fraser told GQ in a 2018 interview, adding he was rarely invited back to the Golden Globes after 2003.

"The phone does stop ringing in your career, and you start asking yourself why. There are many reasons, but was this one of them? I think it was."
