Singers Brandy and Monica recreate The Boy Is Mine duet on TikTok 23 years after releasing hit single

Nineties kids were hit with all the nostalgic feels when singers Brandy and Monica reunited on TikTok over the weekend.

The '90s icons recreated their hit song 'The Boy Is Mine' for their combined one million followers on the video-sharing app.

The duo appeared on a split-screen as they both performed the intro of their 1998 collaboration, which has received more than two million views.

The newly dropped clip was reminiscent of the song's original music video, which featured Brandy, 42, and Monica, 40, fighting for the affections of a love interest played by actor Mekhi Phifer.

The single topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for an impressive 13 weeks. At the time, Brady and Monica were are the top of the R'n'B game, selling 40 million and 30 million albums respectively.

The reunion comes after years of reports of an on-again, off-again feud between the pair. And the root of their supposed rivalry remains a mystery to this day. 

"The fans have no idea what really took place, what really caused the initial friction, and we vowed to keep that between us," Monica told Entertainment Tonight last August.

"Once I speak with her and see how much of what she wants to share can be shared, then we'll share some things with you guys."

But both appeared to put the past behind them last year when they reunited back in August Timbaland and Swizz Beatz's webcast series, Verzuz, which was the first time they were in the same room together in nearly a decade.

"I just need you to know I have the utmost love and respect for you as well ... No matter the times where it seemed like I didn't," Brandy reportedly told Monica on the program.
