Bindi Irwin shares update following endometriosis surgery: 'Thank you with all my heart'

Bindi Irwin has shared an update following her endometriosis surgery and diagnosis.

Just last week, the wildlife warrior revealed she had been "battling" the debilitating condition, which causes cells similar to the lining of the uterus, or endometrium, to grow outside the uterus.

The 24-year-old previously shared a post revealing that doctors found 37 lesions and a "chocolate cyst" in her uterus.

Now, the young Aussie has thanked her fans for all their support, and ensured she's "healing" post-surgery.

"I have spent the week reading your kind words and stories of strength through your own experiences with endometriosis," Irwin wrote.

"Thank you with all my heart for sharing. I can finally see a new me on the journey towards better health. I can't wait to be able to focus all my energy on our family and the conservation work we are so passionate about. Sending my love and light your way."

Irwin revealed in her post last week that for 10 years she's struggled with "insurmountable fatigue, pain & nausea."

"Trying to remain a positive person & hide the pain has been a very long road," she wrote. "These last 10yrs have included many tests, doctors visits, scans, etc."

Irwin was operated on at the Seckin Endometriosis Centre in New York in the US.

Following Irwin's announcement, her husband, Chandler Powell shared a sweet message of support.

"You are my inspiration to be as strong as I can be in every aspect of life," Powell wrote.

"Seeing how you pushed through the pain to take care of our family and continue our conservation work while being absolutely riddled with endometriosis is something that will inspire me forever."

Irwin's brother Robert, 19, shared a post of admiration for his sister too.

"Bindi, I'm so proud of you. It's been a long battle through a decade of pain, but you are finally on the road to recovery," Robert wrote.

"I'm so happy you can have your life back. Endometriosis is a horrible, crippling disease and too many women endure this in silence, or are never even diagnosed. Bindi, your story of resilience is a beacon for women around the world who are suffering – and it's a wake-up call for men too.

He added: "It's *everyone's* responsibility to be allies for women's health and help spread awareness."
