Barry Hall on girlfriend Lauren Brant's alleged affair with Beau Ryan: 'It's always lingering'

Former Sydney Swans star Barry Hall has broken his silence on girlfriend Lauren Brant's alleged 2015 affair with Footy ShowFooty Show.

Barry, who is expecting his first child with 28-year-old Lauren in May, commended her resilience in the face of negative criticism from the highly publicised scandal that took place before they were dating.

"I'm sure if she had her time again she wouldn't want that to happen," Barry, 40, told Daily Mail Australia. "But she's moved on from it."

In August 2015, Lauren's then-fiance, Warren Riley, claimed she and Beau had slept together while working on the Aladdin and his Wondrous Lamp stage production earlier that year.

While Beau, 31 -- who is currently expecting his second child with wife of five years, Kara Orrell -- never publicly addressed the alleged infidelity, he issued an on-air statement apologising "to all of the people who have been hurt recently" shortly after the allegations.  

In 2016, Lauren and Barry began dating after they appeared on 2015's I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! together. And in December, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together.

Despite their exciting news, Barry admits the public scrutiny has been hard to shake.

"There's been a lot of negative stuff written about her," he said. "I don't know how she does it at times -- it would get to me.

"It's always there and it's always lingering -- it's on the back of every story that pops up -- you can't really get away from it but it's something she has dealt with quite well."

As for his thoughts on the Hi-5 entertainer's alleged affair?

"I've made mistakes - I've made plenty of them," he said. "And I think anyone who throws a dig or a comment at Lauren just look in your own backyard first because no one is perfect."
