The Bachelor 2017: This photo of Laura and Elise tells us who wins Matty J's heart

On tonight's finale of The Bachelor, Matthew 'Matty J' Johnson will pick if he'd rather spend the rest of his life with Laura Byrne or Elise Stacy.

But we probably already know the answer.

In addition to spoiler alerts 1, 2, and 3, in a photo shared today on The Bachelor's Facebook titled "Who will Matty choose?", Laura can be seen wearing an off-white, two-piece ensemble while Elise wears a gold strapless gown.

Which probably means Laura is the winner.

Why? Because, historically, the winner always wears the lighter and brighter colour.

So just how sound is this theory? Well let's go back to 2013.

Australia's first Bachelor Tim Robards had to pick a winner between Anna Heinrich and Rochelle Emanuel-Smith. Anna wore white, and Rochelle wore pink. Anna won.

In 2014, Blake Garvey chose Sam Frost to be his lucky lady instead of Lisa Hyde (before dumping her for the second runner up Louise Pillidge. It's still awkward.). Sam wore silver, Lisa wore black. Enough said.

The following year, Sam Wood told Snezana Markoski that she was the woman of his dreams. Lana Jeavons-Fellows went home heartbroken. Maybe because she wore a darker lilac, while Snez wore white?

And last year, Richie Strahan picked Alex Nation to be his girl. Alex wore gold, while runner up Nikki Gogan wore a darker red.

On the Facebook post shared today showcasing Laura and Elise's outfits, fans were eager to prove their theory.

"So obvious it's Laura because she's wearing white and the winner always wears white/gold," one fan speculated. "WHY DO THEY HAVE TO RUIN IT LIKE THIS."

"It's always the girl wearing the dress that's white or closer to white, in this case Laura #bachelorveteranoverhere," another fan agreed.

Will Matty break the pattern and go dark tonight? Probably not.
