How the 'Avengers: Endgame' credits divert from previous films

If you haven't seen Avengers: Endgame yet, don't worry. This article contains no spoilers related to the plot, just an observation regarding the end credits.

The final instalment of the Marvel's Avengers hit cinemas this week, bringing the 22-film series to a close with the much-anticipated Avengers: Endgame.

After most-likely bawling their eyes out as the final credits rolled, viewers noticed that there was no extra scene, as has become custom in Marvel movies.

In fact, every film in the franchise has featured either a mid or post-credits scene (or both) to conclude the story and tease what is to come.

Being the final movie in the saga, it makes sense that such an epilogue be omitted.

It did however offer something else to the audience -- a clanging sound accompanied the Marvel logo.

Disney has confirmed that the sound you hear is Tony Stark building his first Iron Man suit in the namesake movie that started it all.

We'll leave you to ponder the meaning of that as you see fit.

While Endgame is -- as the name suggests -- the end of an era, a new Marvel film is on the way with Spider-Man: Far From Home, set to be released on July 5.
