She's known for her sexy lingerie shoots and food selfies, but Robyn Lawley's latest Instagram photo has taken her fans by surprise.

The Aussie model scribbled an anti-mining slogan over her nude body, then posted a selfie of it Instagram, to protest the Federal Governments approval of the Carmichael coal mine development in Queensland.

"Woke up this morning to find out that our environmental minister and the Abbott government have approved what will be the biggest mine of Australia," Robin wrote alongside the Insta-snap.

She then went on to quote an ABC report: "Carmichael mine will cover an area seven times that of Sydney Harbour. The only way to get coal out of Carmichael mine is via the Great Barrier Reef. Millions of tonnes of seabed will have to be dredged and dumped in the World Heritage Area to make way for port expansions to service this mega-mine."

Well this is very different from the usual "thigh-gap" chit chat we've heard from the 25-year-old in the past.

Last year, Robyn wrote an entire article to The Daily Beast pulling apart the disturbing trend for girls to be so thin that they have a gap between their thighs.

"The company behind the operation has a 'dirty track record," Robyn explained, adding that in India, "documents seized from offices revealed the company was paying cash bribes to port officials, customs, police and local pollies in exchange for "undue favour for illegal exports.

"Instead of joining countries such as Germany and introducing more renewable energy to protect our great land for us and future generations, we continue to go backwards. Coal is soon going to be a dead commodity only bought buy irresponsible countries who do not care about climate change and the damage on the world."

Robyn also explained that she feels "powerless" about the Government's decision.

"I'm shocked and feel powerless," she wrote. "So I decided to get people to read this one way or another, we have to stop them, before it's too late."
