As bad as it gets: Cuba Gooding Jr and wife split after 20 years

Cuba Gooding Jr’s wife Sara Kapfer has filed for separation after 20 years of marriage.

What makes the split extra sad-face is that the couple first fell in love in high school and have three kids together: Spencer, 20; Mason, 17 and Piper, 9.

No reason has been given for the breakup, but TMZ reports that Sara has filed for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s children.

Just last year, Cuba, 46, gushed to the hosts of The View about his long-time lady love: “[She’s been] the high-school girl, the college girl, the newlywed and the mother... and I've fallen in love with every one.”

But the Oscar winner hinted that times were tough for the couple. His role in the Broadway show The Trip to Bountiful kept him away from his Los Angeles-based fam for months. ''When [I] do films, I can still fly them in or fly home to see them,” he said.

He added: “But I knew this [Broadway] commitment meant that I would be in New York City for a long time, so it's a bit of a pull to keep the household together.”
