'Frustrating': Andrew Garfield's girlfriend Kate Tomas speaks out on the misogyny surrounding their romance

Andrew Garfield's new partner Kate Tomas has spoken out in a new interview about the one thing that ''frustrates" her when it comes to their relationship being in the spotlight.

Tomas, 42, told The Sunday Times that there's a lot of misogyny surrounding their romance and said she's a strong, accomplished woman in her own right and is not just dating an actor.

"It's frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it's always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man," she explained.

She added: "I don't want to sit under anybody's shadow."

Tomas is a "professional witch" and tarot card reader to the stars and was born in the UK. She reportedly is going through her fourth divorce. She is also an author.

She and Spiderman star Garfield, 40, have been linked since March when they were spotted by paparazzi out together.

Garfield was previously in a high-profile romance with his actress ex, Emma Stone.

The former couple first met on the set of the 2012 superhero movie, The Amazing Spider-Man.

But after dating for nearly four years, they split in 2015 shortly after their film's sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, was released.

However, they have managed to remain good friends.

"We care about each other so much, and that's a given, that's kind of this unconditional thing," Garfield previously said on Vanity Fair's Little Gold Men podcast.

"There's so much love between us and so much respect."

Stone also told Vogue in 2016, a year after their breakup, that Garfield, 40, is "someone I still love very much".
