Amanda Bynes and Paul Michael reportedly split for good two weeks after calling off engagement

Actress Amanda Bynes and boyfriend Paul Michael have reportedly split for good.

The breakup news comes just two weeks after the couple ended their engagement. At the time, they said they would stay together but step back from planning their wedding. 

"They are still together as a couple, but they have put a pause on their engagement and wedding planning," the source explained to Entertainment Tonight weeks ago.

"They have gone through ups and downs together and personally, and realised they might have moved quickly, but they love each other and are still committed to one another."

Now E! News has confirmed the pair have decided to end their relationship altogether. 

"[They] are together working through the tough times," a source told the outlet, adding "a series of significant" obstacles prevented them from tying the knot including public pressure and the pandemic. 

Bynes, 36, first started dating Michael, an aspiring rapper, in 2020 after they reportedly met at a sober living facility, where the actress was seeking treatment for substance abuse.

"Everybody is different, obviously, but for me, the mixture of marijuana and whatever other drugs and sometimes drinking really messed up my brain," Bynes told Paper magazine in 2018.

"It really made me a completely different person. I actually am a nice person. I would never feel, say or do any of the things that I did and said to the people I hurt on Twitter."

Her erratic behaviour over the years caused her parents to place Bynes under a conservatorship in 2013, whereby they controlled her finances and life.

However, four months ago, a judge ordered the nine-year-long conservatorship be terminated.

The Hairspray star has regained control of her life and finances and is currently undertaking a bachelor's degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

"[She] is looking forward to what her next step is going to be," Bynes' attorney recently told Variety at the time. "She is very creative so she's trying to find an outlet for that."
