The International human rights lawyer stepped out in New York City on Thursday, dressing her growing baby bump in a patterned pink Bottega Veneta Cruise Collection Velvet Devore dress. She coordinated the look with a Bottega Veneta Cruise Collection Cashmere Overcoat in a dusty rose shade, matching Bottega Veneta Roma handbag, and black pumps.

She was in New York City to address the United Nations on Friday about reported genocidal abuses at the hands of the terrorist group ISIS.

Amal spoke to BBC News about her decision to speak on behalf of German refugees she had interviewed.

She explained to BBC News’ Fiona Bruce, "I’ve been to refugees in Germany like the one you showed in your piece and I have interviewed former child soldiers and young girls who were raped and enslaved by ISIS."

"It's been the most harrowing testimony I’ve ever heard. We know that it’s genocide. The UN has said so. In other words: ISIS is trying to destroy them as a group and we are allowing it to happen without actually calling ISIS to account.”

Amal, 39, has called for a U.N. genocide investigation into ISIS and will argue her case before the global agency on Friday.

On the home front, Amal and husband George Clooney announced they are expecting twins on February 9, with George's mum revealing the twins' sexes to Vogue.

"It will be one of each! Yes, a boy and a girl. That's what I've been told," she said. "How marvellous!"

Amal's bump made its grand debut last month at the César Awards in Paris, where her husband received an Honorary César Award.
