Adele made an appearance at the scene of the Grenfell Tower fire on Wednesday night, which claimed the lives of at least 12 people.

The 29-year-old, who was accompanied by her husband Simon Konecki, was photographed looking visibly emotional as she supported and hugged bystanders at a nearby vigil.

One witness shared their pictures of the singer online, writing "I love Adele. She won’t tweet about [the fire] and just stay at home. She goes out and actually helps people."

Another onlooker shared photos of the Grammy winner, who appeared to be crying, and wrote: “Just spotted Adele and Simon Konecki visiting the Grenfell Tower. She was dressed in an abaya. Respect to both of you."

Adele lives nearby in a house in Kensington, though she's not the only high-profile personality offering help to people affected by the inferno.

Singer Lily Allen, who is also a nearby resident, sent out a tweet offering a “bed, a lift or tea” to those who needed it.

Chef Jamie Oliver announced that families affected would be given free meals at the restaurant.

The fire began Wednesday morning just before 1am local time, and flames swept through the 24-storey building within just 15 minutes. There have been reports the cause of the fire is believed to be the explosion of a faulty fridge.

With over 600 residents in the tower, Scotland Yard police say the death toll is expected to rise.
