Oscars: Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon wins the red carpet with daring leather tux

Forget the movie stars, an Olympian just owned the Oscars red carpet.

Adam Rippon deserves an Academy Award for most fiercely dressed, rocking a rule-breaking Moschino tux complete with leather bow tie and S&M-inspired harness.

The fashion-forward ensemble was a hit as the US figure skater arrived at the 90th Academy Awards, and not just on the red carpet.

Fashion enthusiasts such as Tyra Banks took to Twitter to congratulate the bronze medalist on his chic look.

Despite referring to himself as a 'melted candle' since arriving home from the Winter Olympics, the 28-year-old looked absolutely stunning as he walked the carpet with fellow US figure skater Mirai Nagasu.

Hopefully they turn the stage into an ice rink and he performs a number with I, Tonya star Margot Robbie. We'll just have to watch and find out!
