Actor Justin Hartley reveals he once got caught pretending to be Ryan Reynolds

We all can't be Ryan Reynolds. Just ask actor (and fellow heartthrob) Justin Hartley.

On Tuesday's episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the This Is Us star, 40, revealed that he once pretended to be Reynolds, 41, after he was mistaken for the Deadpool star by a fan. And it didn't end particularly well.

"I went to this charity event. It’s really neat because you get to raise money for good causes, and people recognize you, and they’re really nice to you," Hartley told host Fallon.

"This woman recognized me, and I could tell she did because she made this face," he said, giving his best slack-jawed impression. "I was feeling pretty good about myself. She starts telling me how great I am and how in love with me she is."

But then the woman asked how his "wife" Blake Lively was doing.

"She asked how Blake was, and I didn’t know what she was talking about— I said 'great'!'"

He continued, "She then asked me if I knew Deadpool was going to be that big of a hit."

And that's when the foundation crumbled.

"I didn’t have the heart to tell her," he recalled, realising he had spent the past few minutes living a lie. "I just pretended like I was the coolest guy on Earth, Ryan Reynolds."

On his way out the door, he gave the woman "one last wave."

"But she was staring death at me. Somebody told her," he joked.

Just call it the price of being handsome?
