Abomination of a hair do will make you weep for a complete stranger

This US woman should serve as an unforgettable reminder of the perils of blindly taking advice from YouTube tutorials.

"So I decided I want to try and get curly hair and since my hair doesn't hold curl I looked up YouTube videos on how to make your hair curl," she begins.

So far so good.

"It took me about two hours to do my hair and do the little fancy trick I learned," she continues.

"And then I learned it's apparently only supposed to be done on African hair, not Caucasian hair."

In a move that sounds like a Girls storyline, she had attempted Bantu knots.

This is a hairstyle believed to have originated in the Zulu tribes of southern Africa hundreds of years ago and which undoubtedly is better suited to the thicker hair of people of African descent.

Finally, the reveal.

Twisted, uneven curls of undoubtedly matted hair.

"I look like f---king Rick James," she cries.

And Rick James had waaaaay better hair than this.

This isn't hair, this is the work of demonic forces. 

It needs to be killed with fire, or at least some industrial strength scissors. 

It is hard to sympathise with someone who persisted in knotting her hair for two hours despite what must have been increasing evidence that it wasn't going to work.

But she looks so crushed when she tells us she has to leave the house in half an hour that you can't help but feel bad for her.
