VIDEO: ABC presenter doesn’t realise she’s live on TV

Sometimes, the only way to deal with an uncomfortable situation is to smile and wait for it to be over.

That's what we can learn from Beverley O'Connor, who had to deal with an unfortunate slip-up last Thursday when she was presenting ABC's The World.

During an interview with the former head of the PNG anti-corruption agency Sam Koim, something went a little… wrong.

The interview between O'Connor and Koim was pre-recorded earlier in the piece and vision from this exchange was supposed to run in full during the airing of the show.

However, it appears the show cut to a live shot of O'Connor on set while the tape ran, rather than the pre-recorded footage. 

Which meant an unsuspecting O'Connor was beamed to lounge rooms all over the country.

Cue a mild freak out and a very, very awkward smile.

Obviously that little glitch didn't make the cut when the clip was posted to The World's website but it was picked up by the eagle-eyed team at ABC's Media Watch¸ who made sure the amusing recovery saw the light of day.

It wasn't exactly the smoothest recovery, but it sure was entertaining.
