Who knew a baby boomer in a suit could be so dope?

Alex Trebek, the host of US gameshow Jeopardy, has become an overnight rap sensation.

The 76-year-old has been hosting the game show for decades, but it seems he could have a new career in dropping lit beats.

During special edition College Challenge episodes of the popular quiz show, producers decided to get in with the youths with some hip hop questions.

And they stumbled on to gold.

Just look at this white-hot promo for the episode:

The segment, hilariously called "Let's Rap Kids", required Trebek to read out the lyrics to a number of rap songs, which inadvertently turned him into a rapper and the toast of the internet.

He recited lyrics of Drake's Started from the Bottom, Desiigner's Panda and Kanye West's Famous among others.

Articulate, stiff and painfully white, his renditions of hip hop classics set Twitter ablaze.

And of course people have scrambled to provide the backing music of the songs to lay Trebek's vocal tracks over.

Thank goodness, because the world needs to hear this.
