Video shows first 'real' hoverboard in action

For decades since Back to the Future: Part II kids have been dreaming of the hoverboard.

The science fiction fantasy will become a reality in April when what has been dubbed “the world’s first true hoverboard” goes on sale.

Produced by aerospace company Arca, the ArcaBoard actually levitates, unlike the wheeled skateboard “hoverboards” that have been recently plagued with spontaneous combustion problems.

Video has just been released showing the hoverboard in action, but those looking for as smooth a ride as Michael J. Fox may be disappointed.

The clunky-looking board has some serious drawbacks, including a top speed of just 20km/h and a battery life of six minutes.

The pre-order price for the ArcaBoard has recently been slashed but will still set you back A$21,000.
