A British man has insured his trigger fingers for $200,000 to make sure he can play paintball for the rest of his life.

Ronnie Hollington, a paintball enthusiast from Romford, has added his right and left index fingers to his insurance policy because, he says, without them his career and his capacity to earn a living would be over, reports news.com.au.

Mr Hollington runs Mayhem Paintball in Essex and is married with a young daughter. He insured two of his digits last week without telling his wife.

"($200,000) is a lot of money so I'm hoping Clare won't chop my fingers off to pocket the dough," the 34-year-old joked.

Mr Hollington has played paintball at an elite level since he was 16, when he was part of the English team. He has also represented his country in games in the US and Europe.
