People typing their names into Google Maps have been served up some scary results after the search giant came under fire when it was reported that searches for the term "nigger king" brought up the White House.

Google apologised but the coverage led many net users to wonder what results the map application would dig up if they searched their name.

Guardian journalist Alex Hern was somewhat creeped out but also impressed when he put his name into Google Maps and was taken to a pub where he plays cards most weeks.

Hern said that as far as he was aware he had only ever been linked to the pub online once.

A colleague of Hern's found that a search of his own name brought up his old university, which he is reportedly not widely linked to online.

And they were not the only ones to be freaked out by the results. Check out some of the Tweets below.
