Twitter goes down temporarily for millions of users
Social-networking site Twitter has gone offline for millions of users.
"Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution," the site said.
A spokesperson for Twitter Europe confirmed the outage, without detailing how widespread it was and how long it would last.
Outages appeared to be concentrated in Britain, France and Germany, according to DownDetector.uk, an independent Twitter outage monitoring service.
The service began failing on the web and mobile around 8.20am GMT (6.20pm AEST), but by 10am GMT (8pm AEST) the site's timelines and tweets were loading again.
However, access to the search engine and other features has been disabled for many users.
It was unclear whether Australian users of the service were impacted.
