Twitter adds new feature for iPhone users

Twitter has just released an update for iPhone enabling users to capture and create .GIF images.

Starting this week, iPhone and iOS users will be able to create GIF images by opening up the in-app camera on Twitter and navigating to the GIF capture icon.

"Capturing a GIF is a new way for people to express themselves on Twitter," Twitter said in a statement.

Twitter says now users are able to create something more instantaneously.

"For our creators, GIF capture will also serve as a new tool to produce entertaining content for their audience on Twitter." they said.

Android users yet aren't able to access the feature, with Twitter confirming they're simply testing the feature on iPhone first.

Twitter users can also create GIFs out of "Live" photos saved to their iPhone's camera roll.

GIFs, short for "graphics interchange format", are by no means a new type of multi-media.

Believe it or not, the first GIF was created back in 1987, and clearly, we've come a long way since then.
