Thieves hijack ‘Tap and Go’ technology

It's supposed to slash your time at the check out, but it's feared "tap and go" technology is making it easier for crooks to steal your money without even lifting a finger.

Already rife overseas, electronic pickpocketing is on the rise with Radio Frequency Identification Devices or RFIDs available online.

For around $100, the device along with the right software instantly becomes a mobile skimming machine.

It's busy areas like on public transport, concerts even cafes where consumers are most at risk.

All a thief needs to do is stand or sit within a metre of your card and in just seconds, the device can pick up your expiry date and CCV number - all the details they need to clone your card.

Along with a wide range of anti-skimming wallets, jamming technology is also available in a sleeve allowing you to protect your cards.
