Spotify makes waves with refugee-themed playlist

A refugee-themed playlist compiled by digital music service Spotify has received mixed responses, with some people labelling it ‘disrespectful’ while others have praised it.
The 20-song playlist features a wide range of immigrant artists, including K’naan, The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians and Amaal Nuux.
‘The Refugee Playlist’ went live yesterday, days after US President Donald Trump signed legislation temporarily banning travellers from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US.
“In a world that welcomes refugees, we get world-changing music from artists like these,” the playlist's description reads.
It also includes a link to the International Rescue Committee, urging users to donate to the cause.
The playlist has drawn both criticism and admiration online.
Some users took to Twitter to question the tastefulness of the playlist.
Others praised it for shining a spotlight on refugee and immigrant artists and raising awareness for the protests against Mr Trump’s ban.
