The parents of a girl who was cyber-bullied have filed a lawsuit against the bully’s parents, arguing they were partly to blame for their daughter’s distress.

Georgia teen Alex Boston was 13 when two classmates created a fake Facebook profile of her, using an app to alter a profile picture to make her appear obese.

Alex said she had suffered publicly given the profile remained active for 11 months after it was reported to the students’ school.

“It’s so bad. My name’s out there, my face is out there,” she said.

Dustin Athearn and Melissa Snodgrass were disciplined by the school and suspended for two days, but the profile was not taken down.

The fake page was “graphically sexual [and] racist” and accused Alex of taking medications for mental health disorders and using illegal drugs, court documents reveal.

The Bostons filed the suit against Athearn’s parents, saying they should be held liable for their son’s actions.

A judge has agreed, ruling the suit can go to trial.

“The Athearn’s negligence … caused some part of the injury Alex sustained,” the judge said.

Lawyers for the Athearn family have said they will appeal the decision.
