Russian Terminator shows off sharp-shooting skills

Russia has built a real-life Terminator robot, able to swiftly kill any target in its path.

The humanoid robot FEDOR (Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research) was recently put into action and has been filmed firing two handguns at multiple targets.

Russia’s deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said the android was designed to benefit mankind, despite its threatening demeanour.

"We are not creating a Terminator, but artificial intelligence that will be of great practical significance in various fields," he said.

However, Rogozin also praised the deadly accuracy of the machine with weapons.

"Robot platform F.E.D.O.R. showed shooting skills with two hands."

In another video FEDOR is seen performing less sinister tasks like walking, doing push-ups, tinkering and arm wrestling.

The state-of-the-art machine has been designed by Android Technics and the Advanced Research Fund at the request of the Russian government.

It is hoped the android will eventually be the sole passenger on Russia's new spaceship, Federatsiya in 2021 during its maiden voyage.
