Tech giant Google buys abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.com

After creating a new parent company called Alphabet, Google has now bought the 26-letter domain name abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.com to match.

Back in August when Google announced the creation of the new company, which will oversee Google and all of the company's various side projects, they announced the domain abc.xyz.

But that apparently wasn't quite enough, with a blog post on DomainInvesting.com revealing that Google recently acquired the full alphabet as a domain as well.

"We realised we missed a few letters in abc.xyz, so we're just being thorough," a Google spokesperson told Business Insider.

The lengthy URL, which currently links to an inactive site, was reportedly created in 1999 and held privately before Google's acquisition.

It is unknown how much Google paid for the domain.
