Dad defends posting toddler's tantrum online

A father who posted a video online of his toddler daughter wailing about wanting to play games on her iPad has defended his parenting style.

Ashlynn Hobbs, 2, was filmed screaming and sobbing during a tantrum posted on YouTube earlier this month.

"I want my iPad," Ashlynn cries in the video which has quickly gone viral and drawn the ire of critics worldwide.

When she is given the iPad, her sobbing subsides.

"Bad bad parenting. I have three sons who are adults now but they still listen to me and have respect for me," one YouTube user wrote.

"I'm more disgusted that the parents are laughing whilst she is upset, to them film and post it on the internet," wrote another.

Texas dad Daniel Brooks said the video shows Ashlynn on a particularly bad day.

"We like to record her life," he told People.

"Her ups and downs, her good days and her bad."

"The more videos we take of her as a child, the more of her life she will be able to look back on and remember how Mom and Dad were really there through everything."

He and his girlfriend Hope put a time limit on how much Ashlynn plays the iPad and they make sure she spends plenty of time outside.

"We would rather her play educational games than watch TV all night."

Mr Brooks puts his daughter's tantrum down to missing a nap.
