AUSTRALIA'S SELF-DRIVING CAR

* A Tesla body with an all-new Bosch-designed self driving system

* Car has six radars, six LIDARs, and a supercomputer in the boot

* Also has dual cameras on the windscreen, giving the car better depth perception

* High resolution GPS accurate down to two centimetres

* The design team previously designed stability control systems for locally-made Fords, Toyotas and Holdens

* Two kilometres of automotive cabling used inside

* Dashboard camera with facial recognition detects when driver falls asleep

* Car drives itself but can prompt the driver to take over in certain conditions

* Likely to hit the mass market after 2025

* Infrastructure Victoria included self-driving cars as part of its draft 30-year transport strategy

* Car to be tested on public roads in Albert Park on Sunday.
