The music industry was turned on its head with streaming music from Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music and many more over recent years.

But with millions of people paying a monthly fee to access music, it's more competitive than ever.

This morning, Apple set the cat amongst the pigeons with the launch of a more affordable $5.99 Apple Music plan.

Available only on Apple devices (so no Android or PC users), the plan allows you to access the library of 90 million songs and hundreds of thousands of playlists for a single monthly fee.

What's not included unless you pay the additional $6 for the Individual plan are music videos and lyrics of the songs you're listening to.

The lower-cost "Voice" plan is also only standard sound quality, with the higher resolution "spatial and lossless" audio-only available on the higher plans.

It's a bold move from Apple who most certainly re-wrote the music industry with iTunes but still sit behind Spotify in the global streaming market.
