A young man has been charged with murder after allegedly running over a middle-aged man following an argument at a service station in the NSW southern tablelands.

The 43-year-old man was found dead in a Queanbeyan home on Sunday, about two weeks after he was allegedly hit by a 20-year-old Camry driver, police say.

On the evening of December 20 the men had argued at a service station in the town.

Both left but soon afterwards the older man was run over, police allege.

The victim was taken to hospital with a range of injuries and the driver was initially charged with using an offensive instrument with intent to commit an indictable offence.

But on Thursday morning police charged the 20-year-old with murder.

He was refused bail and is due before Queanbeyan Local Court on Friday.
