Wye River fire victims need more help

Not enough help is getting through to families who lost homes to summer bushfires on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, a federal MP says.

Liberal Sarah Henderson, who represents the region, says more counsellors are needed to help victims rebuild their lives following the Wye River and Separation Creek blazes two months ago that destroyed 116 homes.

The Victorian government must lift its game, she told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday noting that only one family had received an emergency re-establishment payment so far.
