Workplace Health and Safety investigates Queensland tree fall death

Tragedy has struck the small Queensland community of Munruben after a man was killed by a falling tree branch late this afternoon.

It is understood the man, aged in his mid-60s, was involved in a tree-lopping project along with several others.

A tree branch fell and struck him in the chest, killing him instantly.

People on the scene performed CPR but were unable to save him.

Another assistant on the project was also injured and taken to hospital.

Police stayed at the scene into the evening, and Workplace Health and Safety are investigating the incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
