Worker killed at Sydney waste and recycling plant

A worker has been killed at a waste and recycling plant in Sydney's south-west.

Emergency services were called to Cleanaway Waste Management near Engadine at around noon.

Police from Sutherland and NSW Ambulance paramedics tried to save the man but he died.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner and the incident has been referred to SafeWork NSW, police said.

The company says it is Australia's "leading total waste management solutions provider".

It says it has over 6300 staff plus 5,300 vehicles at over 250 locations.

It offers recycling as well as rubbish collection and disposal.
