Shoppers warned over fake Woolworths coupon Facebook scam
Shoppers are being warned to show extra vigilance after the discovery of a sophisticated Facebook scam purporting to be from Woolworths.
The scam involves a Facebook link to a fabricated Woolworths coupon, which promises customers $100 off their next purchase at the supermarket.
"Present this voucher to your checkout operator to redeem," the coupon reads.

To add authenticity, the scam includes a barcode, Woolworths' logo and branding almost indistinguishable from official correspondence from the retail giant.
Facebook users who click on the link are taken to small questionnaire before being are urged to share the coupon with family and friends on Facebook.
The final step requires customers to enter personal information to receive the coupon – this data is then harvested by cyber criminals.

Woolworths said it was aware of the scam and urged customers to be cautious.
"We encourage our customers to be vigilant of online and mobile phishing scams, which seek to imitate well-known brands to collect personal information," Woolworths told nine.com.au.
"We will never ask our customers for their personal or banking details in unsolicited communications.
"We report scams to the ACCC's SCAM Watch and regularly update our Scam Alerts page on our website to help keep customers secure online."
