A year after the launch of paid subscription service Everyday Rewards Extra, Woolworths has announced it plans to increase the annual fee of the program while lowering the number of points shoppers accrue per buy.

The supermarket giant confirmed to 9news.com.au that a number of changes to the offering will be rolled out in the coming weeks, 12 months on from the trial's launch.

Among the changes include a price hike to the service, rising from $59 to $70 per year, discontinuing the offer of a 10 per cent discount when shopping online - with the offer to set to remain for in-store purchases - as well as lowering the number of points accumulated from three to two per shop.

"Our Everyday Rewards program helps members save hundreds of dollars on their shopping every year, by earning reward points and boosting offers when shopping in our stores and with our partners," a Woolworths spokeswoman told 9news.com.au

"It's been a year since we started to trial Everyday Extra and it's been pleasing to see the value early subscribers have unlocked from the program, saving on average $30 a month.

"Now as we continue to invest in Everyday Extra and our broader Everyday Rewards program, we are making some changes to the pricing and benefits in the coming months."

The spokeswoman added that the changes will be brought into effect from July 1.

There are roughly 100,000 people around the country who pay for the service.
