Woman threatened with handguns by two men

A woman has been threatened by two men armed with handguns during a home invasion in NSW's Hunter region.

Police say that at about 11.40pm (AEDT) on Tuesday the 20-year-old woman was at her home at Tarro when she answered a knock at the front door.

Two men carrying handguns forced their way inside, threatening the woman and searching through rooms before fleeing in a purple or maroon Holden Commodore sedan.

Police have established a crime scene and are hunting the two men.

The first man is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a tanned complexion, 183cm tall, of solid build with brown hair, brown eyes and wearing a white and blue check button-up shirt and denim shorts.

The second man is described as being Caucasian with a tanned complexion, 183cm tall, of thin build with brown hair and wearing a black t-shirt and blue denim shorts.

Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
