A Melbourne woman was allegedly on ice when police pulled over her during school pick-up and found two young unrestrained children in her car.

The Frankston driver tested positive for methylamphetamine after police intercepted her car - which had no number plates - at 3.50pm yesterday AEST, police said.

Officers found an unrestrained three-year-old and a three-month-old baby with loose safety straps in the vehicle.

The fluid sample that indicated the presence of ice will undergo forensic analysis.

The woman is expected to be charged on summons with drug driving, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an unsafe vehicle and two counts of failing to have passengers properly restrained.
