She later died at the scene.

The driver, a 54-year-old woman also from Malvern East, stopped at the scene and was taken into custody. She was later released pending further inquiries.

The death marks the second person to die at the same spot in as many weeks, after an 80-year-old woman was struck while crossing the road on July 10.
