Woman fatally hit by van while crossing Sydney road

A woman aged in her 50s has died after she was hit by a van while crossing a road in Sydney's south.

The woman was crossing President Avenue in Monterey, near Brighton, when she was hit by the white van about 6.40pm yesterday.

She was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

The male driver of the van has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
