Woman hit by hoon doing burnouts at Melbourne meet

A young woman was hit by a hoon doing burnouts and fishtailing out of control in Melbourne’s west.

In video obtained exclusively by 9News, the 23-year-old woman is seen being thrown from the driver’s seat as a ute smashes into her convertible during a meet-up in Derrimut.

It takes some time for the offending car's doors to open, before the driver makes his way towards the injured woman.

In the moments before the crash about 11pm on Monday, dozens of people had gathered at the industrial area to watch the ute do donuts.

Detective Sergeant Rupe Kahlon said the victim has been “highly traumatised”.

“She’s decided not to attend any event again after this,” Det. Sgt. Kahlon said.

He said that while attending car gatherings such as the one filmed on Monday is "not necessarily" illegal, it is “extremely dangerous”.

The man alleged to be behind the wheel of the ute has since been charged with reckless conduct endangering life.

Det. Sgt. Kahlon, the lead investigator of Operation Affecter, revealed police have intelligence suggesting plans for a meet this coming weekend.

“We know what’s going on, we know the people that are going… police will catch up with you.”
