A woman visiting Sydney for work has been gang-raped after meeting a man on the popular dating app Tinder.

On Saturday night, the 28-year-old New Zealand woman met up with a man she had spoken to via the online service.

The pair dined at a Kings Cross restaurant before moving on to a bar in Martin Place.

Several of the man’s friends joined them but the woman soon began to feel dizzy and numb and lost her bearings.

Police suspect she may have been drugged.

She later found herself at a house, believed to be in the Botany area, where she was raped by the group of men.

She was treated in hospital on Monday after telling police what had happened and has since returned home to New Zealand.

One of her attackers is described as being of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance.

Police are warning dating app users to be extremely cautious when meeting up with people they have only spoken to online.
